Harsh truth or comfortable lie

 I have been watching “The good doctor” way too much and seeing how autism sometimes makes things simpler. One of many times, Shaun Murphy, the doctor with autism, having difficulties in communicating, has been shown to be blunt and outspoken, which leads to many blunders as well. Totally random but my question is whether you would prefer being told a harsh truth or a comfortable lie. Both have pros and cons of their own, harsh truth tho maybe difficult to digest can really brings out everything out on the table, meanwhile a comfortable lie might ensure to keep you and your mental health stable for a while, you are never really sure that how much is being sugar coated and how bad the situation actually is? Most of the time, people who actually have the ability to hear the harsh truth are usually told the comfortable lie, because that decision is taken by their loved ones and they are thinking from their own perspective which is wrong.
