Communication in a desi household

 

A household where words like “ I love you “ and “I'm sorry” are off limits, little to nothing can be expected from the members of that household when it comes to communication.

Communication is the key, yeah Salwa we have heard that one.

No but seriously I cannot emphasise enough how important communication is.

Desi households don't understand that and now we have a whole generation who are hiding behind the curtains feeling like they will be misunderstood or people who are unable to tell what they feel or why they feel what they feel.

Parents, understand this, if you are not talking to your kids about their feelings and yours as well, don't doubt the fact that they will talk to someone else, and God knows what good or bad that will bring.

Try and build a safe environment for your kids, so they don't have to go searching for it somewhere else.
